The Pink Lagoon boutique in Solana beach is not just another clothing boutique. Owner Jenny Livits calls it, and has trademarked the term, Wardrobe and Styling Boutique.

Livits’ concept grew out of the recession. She wanted to a place for women to go to buy not just individual pieces, but to build a wardrobe.

She can often be found doing what she calls “closet evaluations” for her clients. “If a woman’s closet is edited correctly, meaning she has most of the essential items and some fun ones as well, then shopping is fun. If not, then shopping can be a total pain and more importantly, a waste of money,” Livits says.

Livits says she believes women shouldn’t invest in trendy pieces, but great pieces.

Since she was 20, Livits knew she wanted to open a boutique. She wrote the business plan seven years before the store opened. The year it opened, 2007, she also gave birth to her daughter, Zoe.

Pink Lagoon is a girls oasis. The ownerand her staff arenot only approachable, but extremely helpful—probably due to the fact that you’ve got real live stylists helping you shop.

Livits’ must-haves for a woman’s wardrobe include (in her words): “killer” layering pieces, an “off-the-hook” white button-up shirt, a classic tee-shirt, a beautiful blouse for going out,an “insane” little black dress and denim in every style.

Savvy boutique shoppers will quickly recognize the sophistication of many of the clothing lines carried in Pink Lagoon—Joie, Rich & Skinny denim, Rebecca Taylor, Alice & Olivia, Seven, and Elizabeth and James.

Pink Lagoon also has a phenomenal collection of accessories; from fine jewelry by Julez Bryant to the trendier Chan Lu, and the ever-present Tom Ford eyewear.

Pink Lagoon is a place to shop for some fun fashion basics, as well as essentials every woman should own. The store is so committed to helping women style themselves, that every third Thursday the store offers a “Fashion Night Out” event. Women can bring in two to three items from their closet and Livits will help them figure out how to wear them.
