Following the demise of U.K. dream popsters Galaxie 500 in 1991, the bands’ rhythm section of Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang decided to call it quits and focused their combined efforts on a book publishing company called Exact Change.

After being cajoled to return to the studio in 1992, Damon & Naomi (their preferred stage names) went on to release their dispirited debut album, More Sad Hits.Since then the pair have released seven studio albums, with their latest being False Beats and True Hearts, released in May of this year through the label they created, 20-20-20 Records. A combination of acoustic guitars and moody synthesizers, Damon & Naomi have been traveling around the world spreading their melancholy joy from country to country for more than sixteen years.

Their latest album, False Beats and True Hearts continues to add to their eclectic songbook and included the accompaniment of saxophonist Bhob Rainey, who provided lush tones throughout their set.

These photos were taken from Damon and Naomi’s performance at The Casbah in San Diego on June 5, 2011.
