Obviously, one of the best things about living in San Diego is the ability to engage in outdoor activity virtually all year long. And with an abundance of recreational vehicle parks all over the county, it's easy to take a mini-vacation that includes fishing, swimming, camping and eyeballing nature without driving very far from home.
Here is a list of some the top RV parks in San Diego County.
Some of the best fresh-water fishing in the county can be found here, not to mention primitive tent sites. For the record, the lake is closed to boating Monday through Thursday.
Harritt Road, Lakeside (619) 443-2510 Chula Vista RV Resort
Opened in 1983, this resort boasts 237 spaces will full hook-ups and is designed to give guests privacy. Other amenities include a general store, full-service restaurants and free Wi-Fi.
460 Sandpiper Way, Chula Vista (619) 422-0111 La Pacifica RV Resort
Just three miles from the beach, La Pacifica offers 179 full hook-up sites that can accommodate all sizes of RVs. WiFi and cable TV are also available.
1010 West San Ysidro Blvd (619) 428-4411 Circle RV Resort
At Circle, one can get away from it all and still be close to it all. Mountain views and numerous amenities highlight the place. It was once named "Best Medium Sized Park of the Year" by the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.
1835 E. Main Street El Cajon (619) 440-0040 Guajome County Park
This 33-acre park offers 33 camping sites, two fishing ponds, a cabin for rent - and don't forget the basketball court.
3000 Guajome Lake Road, Oceanside (760)724-4489 Dos Picos County Park
Want to play soccer? This is the RV park for you. Guests will also enjoy the abundant wildlife all around, as well. Keep an eye out for skunks, raccoons and coyotes, woodpeckers and red-shouldered hawks, which have been known to show up at the park.
17953 Dos Pico Park Road, Ramona (760) 789-2220 Silver Strand State Beach
This is one of the top recreation destinations in the county. Obviously, water-based activities are the main attractions, including fishing. The four parking lots can hold up to 1,000 vehicles. Pooch lovers take note: Dogs aren't allowed on the beach, or the tunnels or on the bay side.

Yet another park that offers Wi-Fi service, which is free to AT&T customers. The camp store operates from March to October.
7201 Carlsbad Blvd. Carlsbad (760) 438-3143 Lake Morena Regional Park
This park offers plenty of things to do for the outdoor enthusiast, and there is also a youth camping site for the kids. Bald eagles, bobcats and migratory waterfowl can been seen in the wilderness. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
