All hail the reigning king of pizza. Named best pizza in San Diego by countless publications, Bronx pizza is the truest of New York-style pizzas in the city. Served by the slice or whole pie, this modest location serves classic, large, thin crust slices of heaven daily. Try the Bronx Deluxe made with pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, black olives, onions, mushrooms and garlic for $19.50 a pie. Dine in and enjoy the New York memorabilia on the walls or take out to enjoy at home. 111 Washington St. San Diego, CA 92103 (619) 291-3341

Pizza, the beach, and beer. What’s not to love? With locations in Solana Beach, Ocean Beach, Carlsbad and San Clemente, not only is pizza port known for their tasty pizza (flavors range from their BBQ bacon cheeseburger pizza, to classic margherita…oh, and don’t forget to order their signature wholegrain beer crust) it’s also famous for their incredible craft beer. If you’re looking for the perfect accompaniment to your slice of pie, ask a friendly beer bar attendant, and they’ll happily give you a taste of one of the many beers they have on tap.

An oldie but a goodie, Filippi’s has continued the tradition of an old-fashioned Italian pizza grotto for over 50 years. A great place to take the family, or celebrate a birthday, Filippi’s offers a variety of traditional toppings, so you can create the pizza you most desire. Large bountiful salads and pastas are also available at Filippi’s, but the pizza is definitely what you want to stick to here. The dough is soft and squishy, the cheese is abundant and the portions are just right. Whether it’s at their Little Italy, Pacific Beach, Chula Vista, or many other San Diego locations, each will have you feeling like you just stepped into the Filippi family home.
