About San Diego Natural History Museum

The San Diego Natural History located in beautiful Balboa Park is all about nature—past and present. The Museum’s award-winning exhibit design team creates exhibitions that focus on the unique and biodiverse southern California region.

The San Diego Natural History Museum’s newest gallery, All That Glitters: The Splendor and Science of Gems and Minerals, amazes adults and children alike with stunning jewelry and glittery gemstones—some found right here in San Diego! The exhibit is both awe-inspiring and educational. Learn how crystals develop to form various shapes and sizes, where these minerals can be found, and why they are of such high value today.

Fossil Mysteries, a highly interactive exhibition, explores big themes in science: evolution, extinction, ecology, and Earth processes. Abundant fossils, models, murals, and dioramas offer unique multi-sensory experiences. You'll see the world—past and present—in a whole new way.
