Carlsbad State Beach

Located just north of Encinitas, Carlsbad beaches are a big attraction for visitors and beginner surfers. The north Carlsbad coastline has series of small beaches and low cliffs right along the Coast Highway, offering prime Pacific Ocean views and easy access to the beaches. Camping at South Carlsbad Beach is the best way to be near the beach and hear the waves at night. Popular beach areas in this region include Tamarack, Warm Water Jetty, and Terramar.

Lifeguards
There is no lifeguard tower or station located at the Northern parking lot but there is at the Southern parking lot. It is located right by the beach entrance. Lifeguard towers 21-28. Usually on duty during the summer time.

Water Activity
Surfing, swimming, and sunbathing to skin diving, windsurfing, kayaking and boogie boarding.

Restrooms/Showers
Located at the Southern parking lot but not at the Northern lot.

Beach Fires
NO fires (BBQs available at the campground).

Alcohol
Consumption of alcohol is prohibited at all times.

Dogs
Not Permitted on Carlsbad Beach. Must be on 6 ft leash at campground.

Camping
Available on bluffs overlooking the beach and ocean at South Carlsbad State Beach. Reserve early - the campground is usually full (and crowded) on weekends and in summer.
