About Coronado Beach
Just a quick ferry ride or car trip across the Coronado Bridge from downtown San Diego, Coronado Beach is a popular destination for locals, tourists and families. The perfect spot for an all-day outing, the beach features many restaurants, shops, parks and the historic Hotel del Coronado. San Diego's South Beach drive runs from Imperial Beach up to Silver Strand and Coronado Municipal Beach.

Life Guards
Entire Beach is patrolled by Life Guards. Generally duty is from 9:00 a.m. to dusk.

Water Activity
Separate water areas reserved for swimming and surfing. Scuba diving is prohibited. The Shores Beach offers a year-round beachbreak perfect for longboarding and bodyboarding.

Activities
Safe, supervised swimming and surfing, Volleyball courts. Many facilities and special accommodations for wheelchairs. Close distance to parks, restaurants, stores and hotels.

Beach Fires
Containers for beach fires are provided during summer months, they are available on a first come, first served basis.

Dogs
Permitted near North end of Beach.

Alcohol:
Consumption of alcohol and glass is prohibited at all time

Directions & Parking
From FWY 5 just south of downtown San Diego, take the Coronado Bridge over the bay to Coronado Island. The bridge lets out onto 3rd Street. Turn left on Orange Avenue and follow it down toward the Hotel Del Coronado. Heading right off Orange onto pretty much any street will lead you to the beach.

Parking
There's a lot of parking along Ocean Boulevard but it fills up on busy days. There's no special trick here; just come early or be prepared for a hike!
