La Jolla Shores

An ideal for boogie boarding, surfing, bodysurfing, picnicking, jogging and swimming. The waves at this beach are the most gentle of all San Diego beaches, for this reason it's the most popular spot for novice scuba classes. The best spot for young children to play at La Jolla Shores is south toward the entrance at Avenida de la Playa - the waves tend to be little smaller, discouraging most of the boogie boarders and crowds.

Life Guards
Daily from 9:00 a.m. to near dusk. Adjacent to the main parking lot at the foot of Calle Frescota

Separate water areas reserved for swimming and surfing

Scuba
South end of the beach near the foot of Vallecitos. Submarine canyon off the beach.

Restrooms/Showers
Located 100 yards north and south of the main lifeguard tower.

Disabled Accessibility
Parking and the boardwalk is disabled accessible.

Beach Fires
Containers for beach fires are provided during summer months, they are available on a first come, first served basis

Alcohol
Consumption of alcohol is prohibited at all times.

Removal or possession of sea life or artifacts.
