In Spanish, La Jolla means "The Jewel" and that is the perfect description of the community. Downtown La Jolla is filled with expensive jewelry stores, hotels, fancy restaurants, and the beach is always accessible!

La Jolla is known for its breathtaking scenery, it is home to five extremely famous beaches: The Children’s Pool, La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shores, Black’s Beach, and Windansea Beach. The most televised beach, The Children’s Pool, is known for its ongoing battle against the seals that fight to inhabit it.

People are always in the ocean in La Jolla, surfing, skim boarding, and swimming are popular year round. The most popular thing to do at La Jolla is to watch the sunset — if you look hard enough, right as the sun disappears against the horizon, a flash of green light makes its way across the sky; very few are fortunate enough to see it.
