Thanksgiving isn’t always a homespun picture painted by Norman Rockwell. Some families have a tradition of eating out on Turkey Day, and others just enjoy the idea of letting somebody else slave in the kitchen and then wash the dishes.

Many area restaurants close on Thanksgiving, but there are still plenty of options available all over San Diego County. Here’s a healthy helping of places you can get your gobble on:

Addison is one of several high-end

eateries open on Thanksgiving.

Island Prime & C-Level Lounge. This Harbor Island bayfront restaurant features one of the best views of downtown San Diego and the recipes of renowned chef Deborah Scott. On Thanksgiving, try the herb-roasted, free-range Sonoma turkey breast. All entrees are served with wild mushroom stuffing, blood orange-cranberry relish, haricot verts and white truffle mashed potatoes. Cost: $49.95 per person.

The Grand Del Mar. It’s five-star dining at The Grand, and the hotel’s restaurants offer a triple option. A three-course tasting menu in Amaya includes roasted squab breast with huckleberry sauce ($65 per person; $90 with wine pairings). The Capella will have a buffet set-up, with a made-to-order waffle station ($85; $25 per child). The elegant meal in the Addison dining room starts with baby sea scallops and gets even better from there ($98).

Bleu Boheme. Try a French-American menu from 1-9 p.m. at this Adams Avenue eatery. Each course comes with an option of food served “On the French side,” or “On the American side.” Top it off with pumpkin crème brulee. Bon appétit: its $48 per person.

Mille Fleurs. Rancho Santa Fe also has a high-end take on the French-American Thanksgiving meal. There will be a prix fixe and a la carte menu available from 1:30-7 p.m. ($54). Starter suggestion: musque du Provence pumpkin soup, with cinnamon croutons.

Pacifica Del Mar. The three-course meal here is served 1-9 p.m., and is $38 for the turkey entrée. Pay just $15 for kids under 12. Starting with the Chino Farm butternut squash soup seems like a good idea for eaters of all ages.

Bistro 39. The Hilton Garden Inn's restaurant will do breakfast from 7-11 a.m. and dinner from 2-7 p.m. Opt for roasted turkey breast or leg of lamb steak as an entree. It's $29.95 per person; $14.95 for kids.

Barona Resort & Casino. Of course they’re game for action on T-Day. Special menus will be available in the Barona Oaks Steakhouse, Ranch House Buffet and the Sage Café. Prices range from $40 to $24.95.

Thornton Winery. The Café Champagne will be open for Thanksgiving dinner. A five-course gourmet dinner will be served, and, natch, paired with local wines.
