Crafts for Kids

Bean Mosaic
Create a masterpiece using different sized and colored legumes.

Marble Paint
Place a sheet of paper in a shoebox and add a few drops of your favorite color or colors of paint. Place marbles inside of the shoebox and roll them around.

Paper Bag Piñata
Fill a paper bag with all sorts of your favorite treats. Staple the top of the bag and decorate!

Tortilla Teepee
Wrap a tortilla into a cone shape. Stabilize it with shish kabob sticks and toothpicks and let it sit and harden overnight. Paint the next day.

Potato/Sponge Stamps
To create a stamp, cut shapes and designs into a potato or sponge. You can dip the stamps into paint or food coloring and print them on paper or cloth.

Make a Butterfly
Fold a sheet colorful tissue paper "French fry" style, or as if you were making a fan. Place the folded paper in the middle of a pipe cleaner and twist the pipe cleaner ends around one another (leave the tips for the antennas). Fan the paper out so that the wings look spread and curl the ends of the pipe cleaners for your butterfly's antennas.

Fingerprint Pictures
Color the tips of your fingers with either an inkpad or a washable marker. Press the tips of your fingers on a sheet of paper. Lastly, make your fingerprints come to life; draw faces on your fingerprints or make a creeping caterpillar.

Egg Carton Garden
Create a planter for small plants using the bottom half of a cardboard egg carton. Decorate as desired. Fill the each 'cup' with dirt and plant seeds.

Make a Mask
Using things around the house (construction paper, bottles, cartons, paper plates, etc.), craft a mask. Put on a play for your family and friends.

Make a Mural
Tape a large sheet of paper to the wall, break out your paints, and let your imagination flow.
