San Diego's first LEED certified hotel, Hotel Indigo, opened July 13th in the San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is a registered trademark of the US Green Building Council.. "In 2004, the City of San Diego passed an ordinance mandating that every new City building is to be Silver LEED," says Michael T. Burgess P.E., a LEED® Accredited Professional since 2003. "There are four levels: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum."
