Eagles Get "Hoculi"d

With less than two minutes to go in the 2009 NFC Championship, Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles threw a pass on 3rd down that would have yielded a first down. As the Cardinal defender fell, he reached out and tripped the Eagles receiver before the ball had arrived. The officials on the field let the play end as an incomplete pass.

As with Ed Hoculi's horrific call in the Charger/Denver game that cost the Chargers a chance to win, the officials killed an Eagles comeback. There was evidence, given the scoring dominance of the Eagles in the 2nd half, that they had the talent to come back.

In this case, as in any case where the officials blow an easy call, everyone loses. The Eagles were denied a possible chance to tie the game, the Cardinals can't take full credit for the win.

The Cards also got "Hoculi"d, on the Cards Kick off at the end of the first half, it was ruled out and the whistle blew thus non reviewable. The Cards should of got the ball and possible scored a touchdown and not a field goal to end the half.
