This planned community, spawned from a land grant from the king of Spain in 1789, is made up of of rolling hills and rocky canyons located twenty miles north of downtown San Diego. Rancho Bernardo was once home to sparring Native Americans and ranchers; today, however, this gorgeous development is picture perfect with an array of different houses to suit anyone’s needs or desires.

Most homes were constructed within the last five years and many have three or more rooms. Houses can be bought fully furnished or waiting for a new owner’s personal touch and come in a wide range of pricing. Homes in Rancho Bernardo start in the high $200,000 and end in the millions. Due to its close proximity to the heart of San Diego city, location plays a role here.

There is never a dull moment with so much to do around this town. The night life in the city is amazing, with fine restaurants, chic coffee shops, and bumping night clubs. Balboa Park, Bernardo Winery, Legoland, and Sea World are just a few the whole family can enjoy. Adults can have their pick of activities with the Men’s and Women’s Golf Clubs, the Social Club, and the Travel Club; and the three theatres and two concert halls provide some alternatives.

Whatever the need may be—an urban lifestyle with the comforts of a gated community or a family inspired neighborhood that is safe and fun, Rancho Bernardo can offer it and that is what makes this city stand out in San Diego County.
