Novel Approaches to the Treatment of Alzheimer’s disease
Wednesday, September 17 2008, 5:30pm - 6:30pm

What:
UCSD Stein Institute for Research on Aging Free Public Lecture Series presents:
"Novel Approaches to the Treatment of Alzheimer’s disease"

Therapeutic options for Alzheimer’s disease are limited, and at best provide only modest relief of symptoms for patients. New approaches to the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, drugs that can reduce or stop disease progression, are badly needed.

Dr. Nazneen Dewji will talk about the discoveries made in her laboratory of two totally new therapeutic targets for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. These discoveries offer promise for future development of new drugs that address the underlying cause of Alzheimer’s – the inappropriate production and deposition in the brain of a protein called ß-amyloid.
