Ocean Beach San Diego, CA
This is San Diego's most "laid-back" community, offering surfing, swimming, volleyball and fishing off the Ocean Beach Pier. Dogs are even "laid-back", where they are allowed to party it up and run free at "Dog Beach".
- Life Guards: Staffed daily, year round at the main lifeguard station at 1950 Abbott Street. Generally duty is from 9:00 a.m. to dusk.
- Water Activity: Separate water areas reserved for swimming and surfing
- Scuba: Prohibited
- Restrooms/Showers: Adjacent to the main lifeguard station at 1950 Abbott Street and on the west end of Brighton Avenue, adjacent to the parking lot on the north end of the beach.
- Disabled Accessibility: Wheelchair access is along the walkways at the south end of the beach and on the Ocean Beach Pier.
- Beach Fires: Containers for beach fires are provided during summer months, they are available on a first come, first served basis.
- Dogs: Permitted at Dog Beach (north end of the beach) at all hours without a leash. As always, owners are responsible for control and clean-up of their pets.

Take Interstate 8 west until it ends and turns into Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Continue west on Sunset Cliffs Blvd. and it will lead you to the heart of Ocean Beach.
