Double Deliciousness: A Taste of Summer in San Diego

This Friday, June 22, Liberty Station will flood with organic food, craft beer, local art and live music as the best chefs in San Diego rock the food world with A Taste of Summer! The event is celebrating a new horizon for San Diego restaurants with the launch of The Positive Plate San Diego. The Positive Plate is an organization hell bent on changing the ways of local restaurants by implementing their five-step sustainability criteria:

  • Product Sourcing
  • Water/Energy Efficiency
  • Recycling/Waste Reduction
  • Employee Training and Development
  • Community Engagement

The idea is to not only inspire sustainability and support for local ingredients, but to create healthier consumer behaviors within the community and encourage a lifestyle that benefits ourselves and our environment.

The Taste of Summer Event is going to feature 10 of the best sustainable restaurants in San Diego: Alchemy, Cafe Chloe, Carnitas, Casa De Luz, Cups Organic, Gabardine, JSix, Kitchen 4140, Sea Rocket Bistro and Urban Solace. Each restaurant is putting together two special dishes, which you will get to have your fill of for the cost of a ticket (only $60!!!). Check out the Taste of Summer Menu for a sneak peek at the upcoming deliciousness.

Included with your ticket to A Taste of Summer San Diego is:

  • Unlimited food - eat as much of the tray-passed hors d'oeuvres and small plates from the restaurants listed above
  • Hosted bar - drink responsibly, but enjoy a variety of craft beer from local breweries as well as local wine and phenomenal organic cocktails
  • Live music entertainment
  • Complimentary schwag bag - full of goodies including a massage certificate, t-shirt and more!
  • Free parking

Doors open 7pm, and you have until 11pm to get your eat, drink and dance on. You really can't go out to a nice restaurant, have a few drinks and enjoy live music for less than $60 nowadays. This is a phenomenal deal, and it supports an exceptional cause.

I have Friday off, so I plan on making my way down to Liberty Station to grub on some excellent food. I have eaten at Urban Solace and Kitchen 4140, and I will tell you that I was thoroughly shocked and pleased with my experiences at both. You really won't regret checking out A Taste of Summer this Friday!
