La Casa Del Zorro Resort Re-Opens in Borrego Springs

La Casa Del Zorro Resort Re-Opens in Borrego Springs

Borrego Springs holds a historic treasure in its desert community. La Casa Del Zorro is a luxury San Diego resort within the desert and one of Southern California’s most famous destination oases. First opened in 1937, La Casa Del Zorro has been revived along with the experiences once offered at the resort. New owners have restored the property for the June 15 soft opening and look forward to a grand opening in the Fall of 2013. This desert retreat invites travelers to escape into serenity, style and luxury.

Many visitors to the original La Casa Del Zorro reminisce over old times and are eager to return for new memories at their once favorite getaway. Guests recall the exceptional service and romantic settings on their stays. Many of their guests knew the resort as children and young adults and remember the fun they had lounging by the pool, having dinner for prom and going to Zorro hosted block parties. Today, after many years of being closed, renovations are respectful of the unique character of the property to capture its special past. Sculpting the landscape to create the ultimate San Diego desert oasis for their guests and updating many amenities to match modern day needs.

The hotel is located on 42 acres of landscaped desert amidst the 600,000 acre Anza Borrego desert in northeast San Diego County, near many San Diego attractions including golf courses, hiking trails and four wheel desert tours. All around is a beautiful night sky courtesy of the restrictions on night lighting making the area one of the few “Black-Sky Communities.” Relax by one of five pools on the property and retrieve drinks by tray to the pool. Get the ultimate treatment from the full room service and their two-story renovated spa building or get active and take advantage of their tennis courts, fitness center and archery range. Newly featuring a full sized Olympic lap pool and their own rock climbing wall, guests will always have something to do at this San Diego desert escape.

La Casa Del Zorro offers 44 room suites and 19 casitas with poolside and pool view options. Guest accommodations include a wood burning fireplace, full service bar and an upscale theme. Dining is available on site at The Butterfield Room for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Fox Den is an appropriately named bar within the hotel, “zorro” meaning fox in Spanish, featuring live entertainment nightly and the perfect lounge to enjoy drinks in casual luxury.

The San Diego hotel itself is appropriately named after Latin romance. The original owners found love at the property so many years ago and were married for life afterwards. As a result, La Casa Del Zorro boasts a pampered setting for any desert lover. The popular story of Zorro fuels the adventurous side of the hotel and when combined with quiet relaxation and traditional hospitality, the original luxury and finesse of La Casa Del Zorro is reborn and thriving.
