SanDiego.com Releases the 'Do Not Miss' List of San Diego Events for August 2013

August is here and as always, it's a month full of big events and fun things to do in San Diego. To help visitors and locals, SanDiego.com has released the 'do not miss" San Diego events of August 2013, and recommended hotels to book for each one.

August closes out the summer months with a well-packed calendar of San Diego events. To make sure guests don’t miss a thing, SanDiego.com has released its list of the top things to do in San Diego before the end of summer!

Ford Supergirl Pro:

August 2nd to August 4th, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on the Oceanside Pier at 300 N Strand in Oceanside CA, this free event is the largest female surfing event in the world, and the only ASP 6-Star women’s surf contest in North America. Featuring over 90 of the world’s top female pros, including Bethany Hamilton, Alana Blanchard, Courtney Conlogue and more. Come watch some top-notch female surfers conquer the waves of San Diego. Including autographs from pros, celebrity guests, live music, free hair styling from Paul Mitchell and a variety of vendors, the Ford Supergirl Pro event will cure every visitors craving for a real San Diego event.

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles’ American Invasion:

August 4th at 8 p.m. at the Belly Up Tavern located at 143 S Cedros Ave, Solana Beach CA. Beatles tribute band Abbey Road will perform all of the Beatles’ chart topping hits, with multiple costume changes through the night. This show is for a 21+ crowd only. Buy tickets online or by calling, and celebrate the anniversary of Beatlemania.

Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus:

August 8th to August 11th, with varying showtimes depending on date of attendance at the Valley View Casino Center, 3500 Sports Arena Blvd, San Diego, CA. Watch feats of strength and agility, and ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ at the courage of this famous circus’ performers. Don’t forget about the elephants, tigers and more that make Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey’s Circus so famous!

August 11th from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 5th Avenue and University Avenue, San Diego California. US Sand Sculpting Challenge and 3D Art Exposition:

August 30th through September 2nd, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the ‘B’ Street Cruise Ship Terminal Pier, located off North Harbor Drive at the end of W Broadway in San Diego, CA. This event highlights a sand castle competition between 10 professional international masters, as well as displays from the west coast’s 3-dimensional art form masters with showings of glass, wood, pottery, leather, metal sculptures and more. Other included events are sand sculpture classes, rides, sand boxes for younger children, musicians and other entertainers.
