  1. About: The San Diego Hall of Champions Sports Museum encourages healthy competition and recognizes athletes for their outstanding performances. The San Diego Hall of Champions showcases the individual efforts of San Diego native competitors and those who have performed excellently in San Diego.
  2. History: Bob Breitbard, an avid sports fan and supporter, originally created the Breitbard Athletic Foundation, which recognizes high school, amateur and professional athletic performers. The Breitbard Athletic Foundation eventually developed into the Breitbard Hall of Fame and later into the San Diego Hall of Champions Museum.
  3. Famous Faces: San Diego stars worshipped by the San Diego sports fans are honored in the Hall of Champions. From amateur to Olympic-level athletes, hall of famers include well-known Chargers football star Lance Alworth, and Ted Williams who is regarded as one of the best baseball hitters of all time.

Exhibits: Various exhibits are featured at the Hall of Champions San Diego including the high school display, which features the high school memorabilia of past San Diego pros to the current high school stars of today. Other exhibitions include the action sport display, which presents the accomplishments of skateboarders Tony Hawk and Biker Sherlock
  5. Admission: The San Diego Hall of Champions is open daily from 10am until 4:30pm. Adult admission is an affordable $5, while youth ages three to 17 can enter for a $3 admission charge.

The Hall of Champions Sports Museum in San Diego is recognized as the largest multi-sport museum in the United States. With three levels, the San Diego Hall of Champions celebrates the excellent San Diego sport stars of the past and current day. The Hall of Fame recognizes sport competitors on various levels from the amateur, high school and college level to the Olympic and professional level as well. The San Diego Hall of Champions Museum is impressive in that it acknowledges 133 outstanding athletes in 20 various sports categories including the well-known football, baseball and basketball players, but also the perhaps lesser-known competitors in horse racing, sailing and pole vaulting. The San Diego Hall of Champions Museum showcases San Diego's sport legacy throughout recent history.

In addition to the hall of fame, the San Diego Hall of Champions Museum has an interactive media center and a state-of-the-art theater. The museum also provides extensive history and fun facts about San Diego's major sports teams such as the Aztecs, Padres and Chargers. Along with these exhibits, lesser mainstream sports and their role in San Diego culture are displayed as well. The San Diego museum in addition has a Holiday Bowl exhibit that displays trophies, jerseys and other football memorabilia from the popular college football bowl.

  • Do Check Out the Sports Illustrated Exhibit: Since 1954, more than 100 San Diego athletes have been pictured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. The exhibit at the Hall of Champions displays each of the memorable covers.
  • Don't Miss the La Jolla Swim Club Display: The La Jolla Swim Club exhibit honors the local San Diego area as well as famous San Diego swimmers such as the legendary Florence Chadwick.
