Marvelous Mexican Market
Mrs. Eater lived near Mexico City, in the town of Cuernevaca when she was young, so when she says a meal reminds her of her childhood, I know I dealing with real Mexican food. And the Farmers Market on Imperial Avenue is one of those places. You walk in under an array of Pinatas, and suddenly you're in the middle of some of San Diego's most authentic Mexican meals.
Everything from Bistek Ranchero, nopales cactus meals, Chicharrones, Menudo, some recognizable items like Carne Asada Tacos, as well as tacos made with Cabeza (headmeat), Lengua(tongue), chilaquiles, an array of Mexican seafood, as well as warming tray after warming tray of saucy meat dishes. Frankly, I'm not sure what I ordered, but Mrs. Eater assured me it wasn't one of the "unusual meats", and it was delicious. Most meals here are three to four bucks, and try to have someone who speaks Spanish with you, or just point to whatever you want to try. Either way the Farmers Market is a fun way to sample real Mexican cuisine.
