Joe Busalacchi learned the science of cooking seafood growing up in a small town in Sicily. He knew he wanted to become a chef, and sixteen years ago he cooking up pizzas in a food court in Grossmont Center. But Joe wanted more than just pizzas, so he gambled his savings, and started a first rate restaurant in Hillcrest that still bears his name, cooking up some of the finest Italian cuisine in town.
I checked out Busalacchi’s when it first opened, and it knocked by socks off. Excellent upscale service, and incredibly good food. Melt in your mouth pasta dishes, fancy appetizers, but without question our favorite dish is the Seafood Pasta. Mussels, clams, shrimp and squid are sautéed, and covered with an incredible marinara wine sauce. There’s just something magical with how all the flavors come together on this twenty-five dollar dish, which is one of the great entrees found in San Diego. At Busalacchi’s, excellent Italian with style.
