Last Minute Valentines Treats
If you haven’t made your Valentines dinner reservations yet, you’re probably out of luck. But don’t despair, because there are plenty of cakes, candy and even pizza to please your sweetie.

Home to some of the most artistic desserts in town, this where chocolate mousse cakes are adorned with orchids and gilded with real gold leaf. These artistic, delicious cakes can go for more than sixty dollars, or by the slice for about seven. Or for ten bucks, you can get two huge chocolate dipped strawberries, or one excellent tart, both with gold leaf, surrounded by rose petals, and gift boxed with a ribbon.

A real Italian bakery sits inside this casual bistro. Classic Italian sweets, like stuffed cannelloni’s, which are shells of pastry stuffed with ricotta cheese. Or Mrs. Eaters favorite dessert, the casitinis, small cakes with ricotta, and surrounded with an almond paste icing. They also feature cakes, tarts, and cheesecakes, all with a valentines theme, and all available for last minute shoppers. Prices range from about three dollars for the small items to over thirty dollars for the extravagant cakes. Gift boxing is available.

Nothin’ says lovin’ like somethin’ from the oven, and DeMille;s is only too happy to help. For fourteen years they’ve served a Valentines special, with heart shaped pizzas for lovers. For about nine bucks plus extra for a wide variety of toppings, you can get this last minute treat, that’s sure to bring a smile.
937 South Coast Highway 101 Encintas
This upscale chocolate shop serves what they call “fresh” chocolate, that needs to be eaten quickly because of no preservatives. They use a variety of Venezuelan chocolate from the Chuao area, and make their chocolate the Belgian way, creating a gourmet style with an amazing taste. The chocolates come in many standard flavors, such as caramel and butter creams, to one flavored with wine and pasilla chilies. The most impressive box here is made with chocolate in the shape of a heart, that opens to about eight of these gourmet chocolates, and goes for about twenty-five dollars.
2396 Fletcher Parkway, El Cajon
Finally, the old favorite 31 flavors stores expect to sell thousands of their heart shaped ice cream cakes Friday. At this address they go for about seventeen bucks, and they’ll have a few for walk in customers on Friday. But for fun, get your sweetie a pint of the two flavors of the month, the Love Potent 31, and the superior Love Gone Sour. The later has chunky cheesecake mixed with the ice cream, and got a food laugh from Mrs. Eater. Available by the pint or the cone.
