San Diego Independent Music Fest

What a great job I have. Speaking with people who make music and learning what drives them... inspires them... makes them tick... I wouldn't trade it.

A few years ago, 1992 during an Earthday Celebration at Balboa Park, I met a young woman named Danielle Lo Presti. Talk about talent.

In 1998, I was working with Tammy Selmo and my friend Mike Dale developing the first jingle for "Oscar's" restaurants. Helping produce was Sandy Stein from Hollywood. We were listening to tapes trying to find the right vocalist. As soon as we heard the voice, we knew she was perfect. Only later did I put the connection together. And if you ever heard that jingle, it was Danielle Lo Presti.

Now Danielle has put together some musical food for your nourishment. And she's done what she does best. The San Diego Independent Music Fest is coming soon.

Featuring music all day long, 12 noon - 12 midnight with sounds from over 30 Amazing Indie artists on 3 stages, Indie artisans selling their creations, henna tattoos, Tarot readings, SD Indie art and businesses represented, and delicious food and drink.

Phase 1 - All Ages Welcome!

Phase 2- 21 and up.

It's Sunday, November 14, 2004, at The Abbey - 2825 Fifth Ave., Uptown San Diego.

Three stages of Rock, Pop, Folk, Latin, R&B, Urban, Spoken Word, and more.

Jonatha Brooke and Erika Luckett are the featured headliners...

And they are making a social statement that we can all learn from. According to their press release:

"The music will be emphasized as a representation of why diversity is not simply to be 'tolerated' but rather to be celebrated as the crux of that which is remarkable in our community, and that which is crucial to a healthy, vibrant city where people of all types are important, recognized and valued."

There will also be vendors, voter registration, interactive art, and independent business owners represented. Henna artists, tile painting, hair art, jewelry making, tarot card reading and massage are just a few of the highlights of the Phase 1, all ages portion of the festival. The Phase 2, 21 and up portion of the festival starts at 6PM and features additional seating for the Headliners as well as alcohol available and permitted throughout the venue.
