Weather Blues? Attend This Hard Rock Party
A scene from Intervention. Will the crowd be
the same at Wintervention?
When the rains fell this week, the enlightened management at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego turned to a sure-fire cure for the weather blues: bikinis.
The downtown hotel’s Intervention summer pool parties are legendary—close your eyes and imagine eye candy of both genders, lounge chairs and DJ-fueled dancers. For those depressed by recent rain and clouds, though, Hard Rock will hold Wintervention, an indoor “mock” pool party on February 28 (from 2-7 p.m.).
“Sunday pool parties have become a San Diego staple,” says Andy Hersh, managing partner at Hard Rock’s outdoor pool deck called Float.
Temperatures are still a little cool in February (relatively speaking). “But that shouldn’t stop our patrons from enjoying a first-class afternoon,” says Hersh. “So, we are recreating the casual, fun atmosphere of Intervention indoors.”
Wintervention will take place in the hotel’s 9,000 square foot Legends event space. It’ll be transformed into a summer playground with day beds, lounges, summer décor and a circular bar centerpiece. DJs will include Steve Angello, Tony Arzadon and Chris Garcia.
San Diego is currently seeing record amounts of rainfall. Wintervention will be a chance to set aside those galoshes—or to dance around in them.
