This weekend The Comedy Palace in Clairemont welcomes back to their stage national headliner Paul Ogata. A native of Pearl City, Hawaii, Ogata first achieved recognition as a morning radio personality in Honolulu on local station KDDB-FM. He was then discovered in the 2004 TakeOut Comedy Competition where he was crownd the “Funniest Asian-American Comedian” in the United States.

Ogata followed his 2004 TakeOut victory by winning the 2007 San Francisco International Comedy Competition, adding his name to the list of former winners like Dana Carvey and Sinbad. Ogata has made numerous appearances on late night television including Showtime’s Pacific Rim Comedy, Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen, and Comedy Central’s Live At Gotham. His debut comedy album, Paul Ogata Stands Up: Live In Hong Kong was released last year to positive reviews and helped solidify Ogata’s status as one of the premiere Asian comics in the world of stand-up comedy.
