Coachella Announces Two Consecutive Weekends in 2012
In an unprecedented move, Goldenvoice Entertainment announced that the 2012 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival will be held over two consecutive weekends starting April 13-15 and April 20-22.
The announcement included the statement that Goldenvoice would, “attempt to produce two identical festival weekends. That means same lineup, same art, different people.” The 2011 Coachella Festival attracted over 90,000 attendees and passes for the three-day event sold out in just six days. Passes for the 2012 Coachella Festival will go on sale this Friday, June 10 at 10 p.m. and will be the only chance for hopeful festival goers to take advantage of the Coachella layaway payment plan. Fans will also be able to purchase three-day passes for both weekends, but will be limited to four per household. Coachella 2012 will also mark the third year in a row where single day tickets will not be made available, with only three-day passes being offered. The festival, which first premiered in 1999, has had numerous incarnations from a one day event in 2001, to a two day festival between 2002 and 2006, and to its current three day lineup since 2007.
With tickets going on sale Friday, June 10, fans are curiously awaiting to see what sort of artists will be willing to appear for two consecutive weekends in the hot desert sun.
Tickets will eventually be on sale at www.coachella.com
