Another year, another festival. Filed under the less-trendy-but-definitely-growing-in-prominence music festivals is the Fun Fun Fun Fest (curiously abbreviated as FFF) hosted in Austin, Texas. The first of the annual music fests began in 2006, with diverse acts like Circle Jerks, Spoon and Ghostland Observatory showcasing the debut single day event. The following year brought artists such as Explosions in the Sky, Sick of it All and New Pornographers, solidifying the yearly FFF tradition as a mix of indie rock, punk/hardcore and electronic music. Gradually, it began sprinkling in more entertainment, such as alternative comedy (ex: Adult Swim’s Tim & Eric) and magic acts.

Fast forward six years later to 2011, where FFF has moved on to a full three-day showcase, now held at the Auditorium Shores (about 2 miles from its previous stomping ground a few years back, Waterloo Park) from November 4-6. This year, the fest may really strain wallets, especially for those outside of Austin city limits, with tantalizing line-up reunions that include Hot Snakes (San Diego's post Rocket from the Crypt / Drive Like Jehu group), Hum, and a group called Danzig Legacy (Glenn Danzig apparently performing a mix of Danzig, Samhain and Misfits songs, joined by original Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein). Headliners include thrash metal group Slayer, hip hop legends Public Enemy, rock trio Blonde Redhead, & alternative hip hop collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, among others. Single day passes start at $55, with three day passes running $135.
