Learn more about Carlsbad State Beach...

Carlsbad State Beach in San Diego is a serene and slightly quieter beach location than other more populated San Diego beaches in the area. Its trails along the bluffs are ideal for a bike ride or jog along the coast. At San Diego Carlsbad State Beach there is a staircase from the top of the bluffs down to the shore where the Pacific Ocean invites surfers, body boarders and skin divers to take a dip. The state beach even has the added convenience of free Wi-Fi services, so beach goers can access the Internet between swims or while sunbathing in the sand.

If you can't bare to pull yourself away from the beach after the sun has set, you have the option of camping at the Carlsbad State Beach in San Diego campsite, which is located on the bluffs. Fall asleep to the sound of the crashing waves and wake up to the smell of the ocean breeze at San Diego Carlsbad State Beach campgrounds. The campgrounds on the bluffs overlook the sand and Pacific Ocean and provide public restrooms, showers, laundry facilities and a camp store complete with all your camping amenities. Gather the whole family for a sleepover at the San Diego beach, as eight individuals and three vehicles are allowed at each campsite. Even your four-legged canine friends are allowed to join you at San Diego Carlsbad State Beach, but canines must be on leashes no longer than six feet at all times and they are prohibited from going on the beach.

San Diego Carlsbad State Beach is a state protected beach, which means the California Department of Parks and Recreation is dedicated to preserving and protecting this area. The California department asks that beach goers respect the shore and leave no trace. In maintaining this area as an environmentally healthy location for wildlife to strive, it is important that guests clean up after themselves after a day on the beach or an overnight stay at the campgrounds.

  • Alcohol: Alcohol and glass containers are not permitted outside of your campsite and are prohibited on the beach.
  • Dogs: Leashed dogs are allowed at the campgrounds, but are not permitted on the beach.
  • Camping Check-In: Check-in for campers is at 2pm at the campsite.
