October, Done Organically

There are so many great things to do and see in San Diego during the month of October until it seems as if 31 days is actually not enough time. More than just home to the NFL’s San Diego Chargers or the MLB’s San Diego Padres, the city is rich in diverse culture and year-round activities. The area is also crawling with organic farms for those who are ready to reap the local harvest. Located along the coast of the Pacific Ocean, this southern California metropolis is water sports lover’s dream and its port is opened to several cruise lines. Typical fall weather is warm with plenty of sunshine to still enjoy outdoor activities. And speaking of outdoor activities, expect the season to kick off with hordes of fun festivals to attend along with other special events. It is ultra easy to have a good time and paint the town red in San Diego. Listed below are merely a few things waiting for residents and visitors to revel in during the month of October.

Pumpkin Patch 2014

With Halloween and Thanksgiving right around the corner, folk’s minds will soon be on pumpkin carving contests and pumpkin pies for desserts. With that in mind, everyone is invited to come down to Fran’s Original Farm Stand to pick their own pumpkins from the field. Described as a hidden gem, Fran’s homegrown produce includes: tomatoes, apples, squash, persimmons, corn stalks (given that corn is out of season at this particular time), cantaloupe and much, much more.
