San Diego Beer Con is Coming to Town
The third annual San Diego Beer-Con runs from August 9th to the 10th and is the place to be if you are a fan of craft beer. Unlike traditional beer festivals, Beer-Con is designed to educate as much as entertain. The two-day event features tours of craft breweries and panels headlined by some of the biggest names in the indie brewing industry.
It all kicks off on Friday, August 9th with tours of local craft breweries. The tours all feature different breweries and there are three San Diego brewery options to choose from. Each tour is equal parts education and fun, with tastings and inside information about what makes each brewery unique. The day ends with a kick-off party featuring unlimited tastings from over 15 San Diego craft breweries.
Those looking to have some knowledge dropped on them will want to get up bright and early for a full day of Beer-Con panels. There are a total of eight panels to choose from, ten if you count the opening and closing addresses. The panels feature something for everyone and cover topics such as writing about craft beer and how to create better beer through science. Each panel runs 45 minutes and there are four panels scheduled for the morning and four scheduled for the evening. Lunch is served in the middle of the day by popular San Diego restaurant, Slater’s 50/50 (a vegan option will be available), and a lunchtime presentation will be given on beer and food.
San Diego Beer-Con wraps up with another party at a craft brewery, and unlimited tastings will again be offered. Beer-Con is the perfect place for both craft beer neophytes and self-proclaimed experts as it offers a chance to meet industry professionals, taste some of San Diego’s finest indie brews and learn a thing or two about an industry that has taken San Diego by storm.
