We Found Wonderland...
San Diego’s Ocean Beach has a very rich history. The beach's initial name was Mussel Beach, for the mussels available there. Its current name, Ocean Beach, was given in 1887 by developers Billy Carlson and Albert E. Higgins. Ocean Beach became home to the areas first theme park in 1913. Wonderland Amusement Park boasted many attractions including carnival games, skating rink, a roller coaster, water park and zoo and signified the growth to come. Despite the efforts of many, the park would only operate for only two years, closing down in 1915 as another casualty of an economic downturn. The rich history lives on in Wonderland Ocean Pub. The venue was built upon the same foundation (both literally and figuratively) as the park it was named after. Like those that paved the roads to the sea so many years ago, Wonderland showcases all that is great about Ocean Beach through ocean views like no other and a staff that treats you like family.
Wonderland’s Vibe and Menu
Using the culture and history of Ocean Beach as a foundation, Wonderland Ocean Pub was created to exemplify all that is great about this laid back beachfront community. The menu features market fresh foods, island inspired dishes as well as Southern California classics. Their draft list embraces the local craft beer movement that San Diego is well known for and features a wide variety of styles. Tourists and Locals alike can come in for some great food, a nice cold pint and instantly be reminded of why San Diego is called America’s Finest City as they admire the ocean view.
