Downtown San Diego is home to seven neighborhoods (or districts). These include the Gaslamp Quarter, the Marina district, Little Italy, Civic/Core, Columbia, Cortez Hill, and East Village. Each of these offers its own unique flare and provides something for tourists to see and do. 

Top Attractions in Downtown San Diego

A number of the city’s top attractions are located in downtown San Diego. From PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres, to the Seaport Village waterfront shopping center, there are lots of things to see and do downtown. 

Downtown is also just a trolley ride away from some of San Diego’s most famous attractions, such as the San Diego Zoo

Downtown is also home to numerous festivals, including Mardi Gras. The world-famous Comic-Con takes place almost every year at the San Diego Convention Center

Downtown San Diego is famous for its entertainment and nightlife! The Gaslamp Quarter is home to a number of bars and nightclubs. From the Altitude Sky Lounge rooftop bar to the well-known Toro Nightclub, the possibilities are endless.

Dining in downtown San Diego is an experience you won’t want to miss. The city is known for some of the best Mexican food and fresh seafood in the country.

San Diego is famous for its fish taco stands, as well as its fresh oysters, which you can try at the Ironside Fish & Oyster Bar. You might also want to check out California-style pizza at one of downtown San Diego’s many pizzerias.
